Two renamings, one shared campus history.

Lide Junior High School was founded in 1974 on 2.4 hectares of land split off from neighboring Mingde Elementary School. It was initially named Mingde Junior High, then briefly renamed Jiucheng Junior High after a naming conflict was discovered with an existing school in Keelung, before settling on its current name, Lide, in March 1975. In its early years, more than 80% of the school's students came from military families, reflecting Zuoying's identity as a major naval district and home to extensive military housing communities.

With more than 80% of its early students from military families, and its rapid string of name changes tied to a naming conflict, Lide's history traces directly to Zuoying's identity as home to a major naval district and extensive military housing communities — a background it shares with Mingde Elementary, the school from which its campus land was carved.
