National Lanyang Girls' Senior High School was founded on April 20, 1938, as "Taihoku Prefectural Lanyang Girls' High School" — making it the second school established in the Yilan area, after the predecessor of National Ilan University. It became a national school in 2000. The school is best known today for its dance program: in 1989 it launched Taiwan's first dedicated dance-gifted class, and it now houses a dedicated dance building with multiple studios and an auditorium seating over 1,000. Since 2011, its "Flying Dance" program has sent students on international cultural exchanges to perform and study abroad.
國立蘭陽女子高級中學創立於1938年4月20日，日治時期名為「臺北州立蘭陽高等女學校」，是宜蘭地區繼國立宜蘭大學前身（宜蘭農林學校）之後成立的第二所學校，並於2000年改制為國立高中。學校如今以舞蹈教育聞名，民國78年（1989年）創立全台第一個舞蹈資優班，現設有專屬舞蹈大樓，內含多間舞蹈教室及可容納千人以上的大禮堂。自2011年起推動「飛舞計畫」，讓學生赴海外進行文化交流演出與學習。
