Zhongzhou Elementary opened on April 1, 1921, as a branch of "Takao First Public School, Zhongzhou Branch," becoming an independent school in 1938. Its first principal after independence was Furuya Kanemune, and the school began with four grade levels before growing into the full elementary school it is today.
中洲國小創校於民國10年(1921年)4月1日,最初為「高雄第一公學校中洲分校」,民國27年(1938年)獨立設校,首任校長為古谷兼宗。學校最初僅設四個年級,其後逐漸發展為完整的小學。
