A playground landmark built from a water tower.
Siwei Elementary was founded on September 6, 1963, under its first principal, Wang Guanzhou, and moved into its new school building on March 25, 1964. In 1982, the school converted an old water tower into a giant "elephant slide," a playground landmark still remembered by generations of students, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2013. Its name, "四維" ("four cardinal virtues" — propriety, righteousness, integrity, and a sense of shame), reflects another common Confucian-moral naming convention from Taiwan's Republican era.
