A century of names, one enduring school.
Shangping Elementary was founded in 1917, during the Japanese colonial era, as a branch campus of Minong Public School called "瀰濃公學校崁頂分校." It was renamed Yuemei Public School in 1939, and again renamed Shangping National School in 1959. Its winding lineage across the Japanese-colonial-to-ROC transition traces the historical administrative overlap between Meinong, a major Hakka town, and Shanlin's smaller settlements.
