Sanmin Senior High School opened in July 1996 with an inaugural intake of ten classes, making it one of the newer public senior highs in Kaohsiung's Sanmin District. Within a year of opening, the school founded a baseball team that has gone on to produce roughly thirty professional players, including MLB pitcher Tseng Jen-ho, alongside elite classes in tennis, fencing, and golf. (It is a separate institution from the similarly named senior high school in New Taipei City.)
高雄市立三民高級中學創校於民國85年（1996年）7月，首屆招收十個班級，是三民區較晚設立的公立高中之一。創校隔年（1997年）即成立棒球隊，至今已培育出近三十位職業選手，包括旅美投手曾仁和，此外也設有網球、擊劍、高爾夫球等體育菁英班。（與新北市立三民高級中學為不同的學校。）
