Jinshan Elementary began in 1951 as a branch campus of Yanchao Elementary School, initially holding classes in borrowed private houses. Local residents donated the land for a proper campus, and the school became independent in 1965. Today it remains a very small rural school with only around 40 to 50 students, sitting at the edge of the "moonscape" (月世界) badlands near Rooster Comb Mountain.
金山國小創立於民國40年（1951年），最初為燕巢國小「金山分校」，借用民宅上課，後由地方居民捐地興建校舍，於民國54年（1965年）獨立設校。學校目前規模極小，僅約40至50名學生，座落於雞冠山附近的「月世界」惡地邊緣。
