Hengshan Elementary traces its roots to 1922, when it opened during the Japanese colonial era as a branch school known as Yuanchaokeng Public School's Mianqianpu Teaching Site. It became an independent school in 1939 under the name Hengshan Public School. Having celebrated its centennial, the school today serves a small student body of around 113 children and 15 teachers in Yanchao District's Hengshan Village.
橫山國小創立於1922年(日治時期),初為「援巢公學校面前埔分教場」,於1939年獨立設校,改稱「橫山公學校」。學校已慶祝建校百週年,目前約有113名學生、15位教師,持續服務燕巢區橫山里的學童。
