Fengshan Elementary School

Fengshan Elementary School traces its history to 1896 (Meiji 29), when it opened as "鳳山國語傳習所," one of the earliest Japanese-language training institutes established in Taiwan. It became "鳳山公學校" in 1900, and — to avoid a duplicate school name during a period of local reorganization — was briefly renamed "鳳山西國民學校" from 1941 to 1945; that historical name is easily confused with the entirely separate, modern 鳳西國小 (founded 1989), but the two schools are unrelated. Fengshan Elementary took the name "鳳山國民學校" in 1945 and its current name, "鳳山國民小學," in 1968. Spanning 27,826 square meters, the campus served as a "mother school" that spawned numerous branch schools between 1897 and 1921, making it one of the oldest continuously operating schools in the Kaohsiung area.

鳳山國小校史可追溯至民國前16年（1896年，明治29年），前身為「鳳山國語傳習所」，是台灣最早設立的日語傳習機構之一。1900年改制為「鳳山公學校」，1941年至1945年間因避免與他校重名，一度更名為「鳳山西國民學校」——此一歷史舊名容易與現今另一所獨立的鳳西國小（創校於1989年）混淆，但兩校並無關聯。1945年更名「鳳山國民學校」，1968年始定名「鳳山國民小學」。校地面積達27,826平方公尺，並於1897年至1921年間作為「母校」孕育出多所分校，是高雄地區歷史最悠久、持續營運至今的學校之一。
