Kǒupí's history traces back to 1920, when it opened as a branch classroom of Xinhua's founding school, "Damujiang Public School." It was absorbed back into the main school in 1923, then separated again in 1946 as an independent institution, undergoing several renamings through the postwar decades. On August 1, 2016, it was redesignated "Tainan City Xinhua District Kǒupí Experimental Elementary School," becoming Taiwan's first public elementary school built around Siraya indigenous-language and -culture revival. Its curriculum today includes Taiwanese Hokkien romanization, Siraya-language instruction, and ecology-based outdoor courses, and the campus sits near Tiger Head Reservoir (虎頭埤), a well-known Xinhua scenic area.
口埤實小校史可追溯至大正9年（1920年），最初為新化創始學校「大目降公學校」的分教室。大正12年（1923年）併回本校，民國35年（1946年）再度獨立設校，其後歷經多次更名。民國105年（2016年）8月1日，學校改制為「臺南市新化區口埤實驗小學」，成為全台第一所以西拉雅原住民語言文化復振為核心理念的公立小學。目前課程涵蓋台語羅馬字、西拉雅語教學及生態戶外課程，校園鄰近新化知名景點虎頭埤風景區。
