One of Taiwan's first four schools.
Ren'ai Elementary traces its origin to "Keelung Elementary School," established August 16, 1898 — one of the very first four elementary schools founded anywhere in Taiwan, making it Keelung's second-oldest school. The school went through several name changes under Japanese rule, and after the Second World War was reorganized as "Ren'ai No.1 National School." In 1947 it split to form two separate schools, Ren'ai and Xinyi, and it took its current name, Ren'ai Elementary, in 1968.
