A school shaped by war and rebuilt on principle.
National Kinmen Senior High School was founded in 1951 as "Fukien Provincial Kinmen Middle School," formed by merging two existing private junior high schools. Its early history was defined by the realities of life on Taiwan's frontline: in 1954 the school relocated to avoid bombardment during the "9-3 Artillery Battle," and in October 1958, following the intense "8-23 Artillery Battle," 921 students were evacuated to Taiwan for their safety. The school reopened at its present site in 1960, was renamed Fukien Provincial Kinmen Senior High School in 1972, and became National Kinmen Senior High School in 1984. Vocational programs, first established in 1968, continue to run alongside the academic track today.
