From a colonial-era training institute to a university-affiliated high school.
This school's roots go back to 1936, when the Japanese colonial government established the Taiwan Governor-General's Water Products Training Institute (臺灣總督府立水產講習所) to train workers for the fishing industry around Keelung's harbor. It was upgraded to senior vocational school status in 1953 and rebranded as a maritime vocational institution in 1970, long known simply as "Keelung Maritime and Fisheries Vocational School" (國立基隆海事水產職業學校). The school came under national government administration in 2000, and in 2020 it entered into an affiliation with National Taiwan Ocean University, adopting its current official name: National Taiwan Ocean University Affiliated Keelung Maritime Senior High School Its entire mission traces Keelung's identity as a fishing and shipping port, training students in navigation, marine engineering, and fisheries for the local maritime industry.
