Kaikuang Elementary School

Kaikuang Elementary began as a branch school in 1954, becoming independent as "Kaikuang National School" in 1957. With about 72 students, it is one of Gongguan's smaller schools. Its campus relocated in 1982 following a land swap with China Petroleum Corporation, which built a CO2-removal plant near the school's original site — a piece of local industrial history still reflected in the school's name, which references the area's mining and quarrying past. Today the school runs a dedicated environmental-education platform highlighting eco-education for its students.

開礦國小前身為民國43年（1954年）設立的分校，於民國46年（1957年）獨立設校，定名「開礦國民學校」。全校約72名學生，是公館鄉規模較小的學校之一。民國71年（1982年），因與中國石油公司土地交換（該公司於原校址附近興建除碳廠），校舍因而遷建，成為在地工業發展史的一頁。學校名稱源於當地過去的採礦、採石活動，如今學校設有專屬的環境教育平台，致力推動生態教育。
