Jiuru Junior High was established in February 1962, originally as a branch of Ligang Junior High School (里港中學九如分校). It was renamed Pingtung County Jiuru Junior High in July 1968, when nine-year compulsory education began nationwide. Located in Yushui Village, the school serves the agricultural community of Jiuru Township, a plains district on the northwest edge of Pingtung County.
九如國中設立於民國51年（1962年）2月，原為里港中學九如分校。民國57年（1968年）7月，隨著九年國民義務教育的實施，正式更名為屏東縣立九如國民中學。學校位於玉水村，服務九如鄉這個屏東縣西北隅的農業鄉鎮。
