A school built while the campus was still going up.
Jinsha Junior High School was founded in 1965 as "Jin-Sha Junior Vocational School." Its first principal, Lu Xi-ming, had to borrow classrooms from neighboring Jinsha Elementary School while the new campus was still under construction, which was completed on December 1, 1965. Within two years the school converted from a vocational format to a standard junior high, taking its current name in 1967. Today it guides students under the motto "Sincerity, Simplicity, Fairness, Determination."

A living link across the strait.
Jinsha Junior High's sister-school relationship with Xiamen Dajie Middle School in mainland China is a direct expression of Kinmen's unusual geography — the island sits only a few kilometers from Xiamen, far closer to the mainland than to Taiwan itself. See the Kinmen county page for more on the region.
