From thatched roofs to the "Sun Tribe."

Jingpu Elementary began in 1958 as a branch of Gangkou Elementary, becoming independent by 1960 and taking its current name in 1968. Its earliest classes were held in thatched-roof "makeshift" classrooms, a humble start reflecting the remote coastal setting of Fengbin Township's southernmost village. Today the school is located in the area known as the "Sun Tribe" (太陽部落), well known for a scenic rainbow-colored bench overlooking the coast that has become a local landmark.
