Jingmei Girls' Senior High School was established in 1962 by the Taiwan Provincial Government as "Taiwan Provincial Jingmei Girls' Senior High School," with Deng Yuxiang as its founding principal — making it the first public girls' senior high school in Taiwan founded by a Taiwanese person. The school became a Taipei municipal school in 1968.
Set on what was once farmland on the edge of the old city, the campus is nicknamed the "Garden High School" (花園高中) for its wide green spaces between buildings, and features three round buildings designed by Xiu Zelan, Taiwan's first female architect, reflecting a "round sky, square earth" design philosophy. Notable alumnae include writer Chen Meiru and singer-songwriter Cheng Chin.
景美女中創立於1962年（民國51年），由臺灣省政府創辦，初名「臺灣省立景美女子高級中學」，首任校長為鄧玉祥，是全臺第一所由臺灣人創辦的公立女子高中。1968年改制為臺北市立學校。
校園原為城郊農地，因校內建築間留有寬闊綠地，人稱「花園高中」；校內三棟圓形建築由臺灣第一位女建築師修澤蘭設計，呼應「天圓地方」的設計理念。知名校友包括作家陳美儒與創作歌手陳綺貞。
