Independence born of growth.
Jingmei Elementary began as a branch of Jiamin Elementary, becoming an independent school in 1958 — one of two schools spun off from Jiamin as Xiulin's mountain-valley population grew through the mid-20th century (the other being Shuiyuan Elementary). Today the school pairs its core academic program with an idiom-learning digital module and electronic photo albums that help keep the school community connected.

Part of a shared Truku education lineage.
Jingmei is part of the same historical Truku-education lineage as neighboring Jiamin Elementary, reflecting how mid-century population growth in Xiulin's mountain valleys led to the splitting of schools that continue to serve Truku Indigenous families today. See the Hualien county page for more on the region.
