Jincheng Junior High School

Jincheng Junior High School was established in 1964, directly at the instruction of President Chiang Kai-shek following his inspection visit to Kinmen in 1963. The school was created to pilot nine-year compulsory education on the island — making it Kinmen's pioneering trial school for the policy years before it was rolled out nationwide across Taiwan. In its first three years the school went through several provisional names before finally settling on Jincheng Junior High School.

金城國中創立於民國53年（1964年），源於蔣中正總統民國52年（1963年）巡視金門後所做的指示，目的在於試辦九年國民義務教育——使金城國中成為金門推行此項政策的先驅試辦學校，早於台灣本島全面實施多年。建校初期三年內，校名數度更迭，最終定名為「金城國民中學」。
