Jiaoxi Elementary began in 1910 as a branch of Yilan Public School (宜蘭公學校礁溪分校), initially using Jiaoxi's Xietian Temple (協天廟) as its very classroom. It became independent in 1916 as Jiaoxi Public School and took its current name in 1941. With over 115 years of history, it is one of the oldest schools in the area and has traditionally been strong in sports and physical education dating back to the Japanese era. The school relocated to its current six-hectare site between 1952 and 1953 after local parents lobbied for expanded land.
礁溪國小創立於民國前2年（1910年），最初為宜蘭公學校礁溪分校，初期借用礁溪協天廟作為教室上課。民國5年（1916年）獨立設校，改名礁溪公學校，民國30年（1941年）更改現名。校史逾115年，是當地歷史最悠久的學校之一，自日治時期起即以體育見長。民國41至42年（1952-1953年），在地方家長的爭取下，學校遷至現今佔地六公頃的校址。
