A branch school that grew into its own community.
Jian Huo Elementary began in 1949 as a branch of Zhiben Elementary School, becoming independent the following year. As the surrounding community grew, the school itself gave rise to two further branches — Wenquan Elementary and the Leshan branch — in 1961. Although originally under Beinan Township, the school was administratively transferred into Taitung City in 1976. Its emblem features a lotus flower motif, and roughly 40% of its students are Puyuma Indigenous.
