Rebuilt again and again for its island.
Jiangjun Elementary predates the modern campus that most visitors would recognize today — a new school building was constructed between 1968 and 1970, at the time becoming the largest school across all of Penghu's outer islands. The campus was rebuilt again in 1988, and once more in 1990–91. In 2012, an inspection found the building lacked sufficient earthquake resistance due to sand-contaminated concrete used in an earlier construction era, prompting the county government to fully demolish and rebuild it as a single-story structure — a reflection of just how difficult it is to keep infrastructure standing on Penghu's remote outer islands.

After a 2012 inspection revealed sand-contaminated concrete in the structure, the county government fully demolished and rebuilt the school as a safer single-story building.
A fishing island reachable only by boat.
Jiangjun Island is a small fishing island in the Wan'an archipelago, reachable only by boat. The repeated rebuilding of Jiangjun Elementary's campus over the decades reflects the practical challenges — and the community's persistence — in maintaining schooling on Penghu's remote outer islands. See the Penghu county page for more on the region.
