A school reshaped by a classified military project.
Jiali Elementary began on August 1, 1958, as a branch of Beipu Elementary, becoming independent on August 1, 1962. In 1984, the military's classified "Jiashan Project" air-defense base construction led to the demolition of the nearby Jialin Elementary School, and its students were merged into Jiali. The campus was rebuilt between 1985 and 1986 with 19 new classrooms to accommodate the combined student body — a rare case of a school's growth being driven directly by national-defense infrastructure.

Jiali's history offers a rare window into how classified military infrastructure has directly shaped daily life and institutions in Xincheng Township.
A township hosting sensitive infrastructure.
Jiali's absorption of a neighboring school displaced by the classified military "Jiashan" air base project ties it to Xincheng Township's role hosting sensitive national-defense infrastructure near Taroko's mountain approaches.
