A long chain of names, one steady campus.
Huajiang Senior High School opened on April 20, 1945 as Taipei Municipal Wanhua Junior High, a night school initially housed inside Laosong Elementary School. Over the following decades it went through an unusually long chain of renamings — Laosong Vocational Supplementary School (1947), Taipei Municipal Wanhua Commercial Vocational School (1958), Taipei Municipal Wanhua Girls' Junior High (1961), Taipei Municipal Huajiang Girls' Junior High (1968) — before becoming coeducational as Taipei Municipal Huajiang Junior High in 1991 and finally Taipei Municipal Huajiang Senior High in 1993. Today the school runs 34 student clubs across five categories, fields notably strong wind band, baseball, and honor guard teams, and recruits specifically for women's table tennis, handball, softball, and taekwondo. Its campus sports complex includes a 25-meter, 8-lane pool and a 180-seat international conference hall that is also rented out for public use.

On the riverside edge of old Bangka.
Huajiang Senior High sits on Xizang Road near the Xindian River dike, part of Wanhua's historic riverside trading edge that grew up alongside the old Bangka (艋舺) settlement, also known as Monga. A few kilometers north, Longshan Temple (龍山寺) and the nearby Herb Lane (青草巷) remain the spiritual and commercial anchors of that original settlement — the same riverside trade that built Bangka also shaped the low-lying district where this school now stands.
