A small school in the heart of downtown.
Zhongxiao Elementary traces its roots to around 1961, when it began as a branch of Zhongzheng Elementary known as the "Senshi Branch" (千石分校), becoming its own school in 1963. Located in downtown Hualien City near the area's commercial district and a concentration of military and civil-servant households, Zhongxiao today runs a compact campus of about 17 classes, roughly 430 students, plus two kindergarten classes — a scale that has kept it close-knit even as the surrounding city has grown.
