A colonial-era school that grew a family of campuses.
Beipu Elementary was founded on April 1, 1928, during the Japanese colonial era, as "Beipu Kōgakkō" (北埔公學校). From the start, it educated both Han Chinese and Indigenous children together under the colonial government's "joint schooling" policy, an approach that was ahead of its time in the region. As the surrounding population grew, Beipu spun off two branch campuses that later became fully independent schools: Jiali in 1958 and Kangle in 1959.

Beipu's branch campuses became independent as Jiali Elementary (1958) and Kangle Elementary (1959), extending its educational reach across the township.
A mixed community near the Taroko gateway.
Its dual Han and Indigenous enrollment since the colonial era reflects Xincheng Township's long-mixed Truku, Amis, and Han population near the Taroko gateway, a pattern still visible across the township's schools today.
