Heping Elementary School

Heping Elementary is described in its own materials as "the island's only school" — the sole elementary school serving Heping Island, a small island connected to Keelung's mainland by bridge. The school has developed a distinctive ocean-education curriculum, including geology tours run in partnership with local historians, and it incorporates the island's traditional seaweed and "stone flower" harvesting industry directly into classroom teaching. It also runs Keelung's first elementary-school recorder ensemble, a repeat competition winner that performs at the city's oldest Mazu temple.

和平國小的校方資料形容自己是「島上唯一的學校」——服務和平島這座以橋樑連接基隆本島的小島。學校發展出特色海洋教育課程，包含與在地文史工作者合作的地質導覽，並將當地傳統的海藻與「石花」採集產業融入課堂教學。校內也成立了基隆第一支國小直笛隊，屢獲比賽佳績，並曾在基隆歷史最悠久的媽祖廟演出。
