Heheng Elementary School

Heheng Elementary began in 1962 as a branch class of nearby Zhuwan Elementary School, becoming an independent school in 1966 and taking its current name in 1968. In March 2026 the school celebrated its 60th founding anniversary. Despite its small size, Heheng has transformed itself into Penghu's first public "marine experimental elementary school," running mixed-age classes and a four-season, ocean-themed curriculum — an approach that has earned it the Ministry of Education's Teaching Excellence Gold Award, a National Environmental Education Award, and a #1 national ranking in the "My Classroom in the Countryside" program.

合橫國小創立於民國51年（1962年），原為竹灣國小分校，民國55年（1966年）獨立設校，民國57年（1968年）定名為「合橫國民小學」。民國115年（2026年）3月，學校歡慶創校60週年。儘管規模小巧，合橫國小已轉型為澎湖第一所公立「海洋實驗國小」，以混齡教學與四季海洋主題課程為特色，並榮獲教育部教學卓越獎金質獎、全國環境教育獎，以及「我的教室在田野」全國第一名的殊榮。
