Founded to relieve a neighbor's overcrowding.
Dongxing Elementary was founded in 2011 specifically to relieve overcrowding at nearby Shixing Elementary. During its founding years, students temporarily borrowed classrooms at Chenggong Junior High (2011–12) and Zhongzheng Junior High (2012–13) before the school's own campus was ready. Dongxing has since been recognized as a Bronze-level "Tsinghua STEAM School" and participates in international exchange programs with sister schools in India.
東興國小於2011年成立，主要目的是紓解鄰近十興國小的額滿問題。設校初期，學生曾暫時借用成功國中（2011-12學年度）與中正國中（2012-13學年度）教室上課，之後才遷入自己的校舍。學校其後獲選為清華STEAM銅牌學校，並與印度姊妹校展開國際交流計畫。
