An Indigenous-priority school in the town, not the mountains.
Da-Ton Elementary opened on June 1, 1955, as "Ronglo National School" (榮樂國民學校), taking its present name on January 1, 1956. The school now serves roughly 1,623 students across a campus spanning 25,910 square meters, and has been officially designated a Taiwan Indigenous Experimental/Priority School. This designation reflects the movement of Atayal and Saisiyat families down from the mountain townships of Wufeng and Jianshi into Zhudong's commercial hub over recent decades. The school also fields a baseball team and operates a library nicknamed "BOOK思議森林" ("Un-BOOK-lievable Forest"), which opened in January 2020.

A mountain heritage in the lowland town.
Da-Ton's designation as an Indigenous-priority school within Zhudong Township itself — rather than in the mountains — reflects the movement of Atayal and Saisiyat families down from Wufeng and Jianshi into the Zhudong commercial hub over recent decades, a demographic shift that has reshaped several schools across the township.
