Haidong Elementary was founded in 1919 as a branch of Anshun Public School, becoming independent as "Haidong National School" on March 1, 1933. The campus relocated from Zongtou Village to its current site on December 22, 1938, and the school took its present name, "Haidong Elementary School," in 1968 under Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform. The school celebrated its centennial in recent years with a multi-generation alumni reunion event, "Remembering, Passing the Torch, Soaring," reported by the Tainan City Government.
海東國小創立於1919年(大正8年),前身為安順公學校分校,1933年(民國22年)3月1日獨立設校,定名「海東國民學校」。1938年12月22日校地由總頭寮遷至現址,1968年配合九年國教改制,定名為「海東國民小學」。近年學校舉辦「緬懷、薪傳、騰飛」跨世代校友歡聚百年校慶活動,並獲臺南市政府報導。
