Haibao Elementary began in 1966 as a branch class of Dashan Elementary School and became fully independent in 1977. Sited near the mouth of the Zhonggang River where it meets the Taiwan Strait, the school has a long tradition of publishing student poetry anthologies (童詩集). In December 2020, it completed a striking, colorful campus rebuild, described as "the most beautiful scenery on Miaoli's coastal line."
海寶國小於民國55年（1966年）以大山國小分班形式成立，民國66年（1977年）獨立設校。學校座落於中港溪匯入台灣海峽的出海口附近，長期以來持續出版學生「童詩集」。民國109年（2020年）12月，學校完成色彩繽紛、令人驚艷的校舍重建，被譽為「苗栗海線最美麗的風景」。
