Zhongshan Elementary School's establishment was approved in September 1960, and the school officially opened in autumn 1961 under first principal Zhong Ruda. Named for Sun Yat-sen (中山), the school has grown into one of Gushan District's larger elementary schools, with about 1,735 students, 63 classes, and 110 teachers. The school began relocating to a new campus starting in 2012.
中山國小於民國49年(1960年)9月獲准籌設,並於民國50年(1961年)秋季正式開校,首任校長為鍾汝達。學校因紀念孫中山而得名,如今已發展為鼓山區規模較大的國小之一,約有1,735名學生、63個班級與110位教師。學校自2012年起陸續遷入新校區。
