Gushan Senior High School was founded in 1958 as Kaohsiung Municipal Seventh Junior High School (高雄市立第七初級中學). It was renamed Kaohsiung Municipal Gushan Junior High School in 1968, became a complete junior-and-senior-high school in 1997, and took its current name, Gushan Senior High School, in October 2000. The school today serves roughly 1,050 students on a campus of about 5.2 hectares at the western edge of Kaohsiung City.
鼓山高中創立於民國47年（1958年），初名「高雄市立第七初級中學」。1968年更名為「高雄市立鼓山國民中學」，1997年改制為完全中學，並於2000年10月更名為現今的「鼓山高級中學」。學校目前約有1,050名學生，校地面積約5.2公頃，座落於高雄市西側。
