Guoyi Elementary was founded in 1920, during the Japanese colonial era, in the hamlet of Guoyihou, one of Liuying's old settlement names. The school celebrated its 100th-anniversary sports day and celebration around 2020. Today it runs a dedicated family-education website and is listed among the remote and under-resourced partner schools supported by the Child Welfare League Foundation.
