A small school, rebuilt and repurposed after disaster.
Yule Elementary, founded in 1959, is a small remote-area school in Guoxing Township with roughly 31 students across 6 classes. Its buildings were destroyed in the catastrophic 1999 921 earthquake, and the campus was rebuilt with help from the Buddhist organization Ling Jiou Mountain. In the aftermath, the rebuilt campus also served as a base for the "Nantou County Northern Disaster Relief Center," playing a role in the township's broader recovery effort.
