Rebuilt from disaster into a renewed campus.
Beigang Elementary serves Beigang Village in Guoxing Township, a mountainous Hakka community in Nantou County. Like many schools in the area, its buildings were severely damaged in the catastrophic 1999 921 earthquake, and the campus was rebuilt under the Tzu Chi Foundation's Hope Project — a nationwide effort that reconstructed dozens of quake-damaged schools across central Taiwan. The school's recovery story was later featured in a profile in Tzu Chi Monthly.
