Guopi Elementary School began life as "力行分校," a branch campus of Chengzheng Elementary School. Around 1989, local residents formed a "branch independence committee" to push for a fully independent school, freeing children from a crowded parent campus; that effort succeeded in 1994. A new independent campus was formally approved on May 8, 1996, with groundbreaking in October 1997 and the first phase of buildings completed in May 1998.
過埤國小前身為誠正國小的「力行分校」。約1989年，地方居民組成「分校獨立促進委員會」，爭取脫離擁擠的母校、獨立設校，此努力於1994年獲得成功。新獨立校區於民國85年（1996年）5月8日正式核准設立，1997年10月動土興建，第一期校舍於1998年5月完工啟用。
