From a temple classroom to an independent school.
Guoling Elementary School traces one of the oldest school lineages in Zhuangwei Township, beginning in 1917 as a teaching annex held at Guoling's Dagong Temple. It became the independent "Guoling Public School" in 1922, but was merged into neighboring Guting Elementary in 1935 and operated for decades as one of its branch campuses. On August 1, 1985, Guoling was re-established as a fully independent school, giving the community its own school once again after sixty years as part of another institution.
