Guochang Junior High's preparatory office was established in August 1994 under founding principal Chan Yu-chun, and the school was formally approved by the Education Bureau in July 1996. Its first phase of construction, begun in 1995 and completed in 1996, added 24 regular classrooms, a PU running track, and a basketball court; a second phase from 1997 to 1998 added a library and tennis courts.
國昌國中籌備處成立於民國83年(1994年)8月,首任校長為詹于諄;民國85年(1996年)7月,教育局核定正式設校。第一期校舍工程於1995年動工、1996年竣工,增建普通教室24間、PU跑道及籃球場;第二期工程(1997–1998年)則增建圖書館與網球場等設施。
