Guinan Elementary was approved for establishment on April 29, 1953, as "Tainan County Guiren Township Guinan National School." It was renamed "Guinan Elementary School" in 1968, and became "Tainan City Guiren District Guinan National Elementary School" in 2010 after the county–city merger. In 1996, the school briefly lent its classrooms to the newly founded Wenhua Elementary School while Wenhua's own campus was under construction. Today it hosts English-learning resources, an environmental-education program, and a "Health-Promoting School" initiative.
歸南國小於民國42年（1953年）4月29日奉准設校，初名「台南縣歸仁鄉歸南國民學校」。民國57年（1968年）更名「歸南國小」，民國99年（2010年）縣市合併後改稱「台南市歸仁區歸南國民小學」。民國85年（1996年），學校曾短暫借出教室給新設的文化國小使用，直至文化國小自有校舍完工。目前學校設有英語學習資源、環境教育課程，並獲「健康促進學校」認證。
