Guanyin Junior High opened in 1966 as a branch of a nearby junior high school, becoming fully independent as Taoyuan County Guanyin Junior High School in 1968 under the nine-year compulsory education reform. It was renamed municipal in 2014. Today the school feeds directly into Guanyin Senior High and shares the district's emphasis on vocational and technical pathways, alongside standout achievements in the arts and sciences.
觀音國中民國55年（1966年）創校，初為鄰近國中之分部，民國57年（1968年）九年國教實施後獨立為「桃園縣立觀音國民中學」，民國103年（2014年）更名市立。學校直接銜接觀音高中，並延續觀音區重視技職教育的傳統，同時在藝文與科學競賽方面表現亮眼。
