From a junior-high branch to a national vocational school.
Guanshan Vocational Senior High traces its origins to 1955, when it opened as a branch of the Provincial Taitung Middle School. Commerce and home economics programs were added in 1969, followed by architecture and refrigeration programs in 1974, gradually building the school's identity as a technical and vocational institution. It became an independent provincial vocational school in 1978 and was elevated to national status in 2000. Between 1996 and 2013, the school briefly ran a comprehensive high school track alongside its vocational programs. Today its campus spans roughly 5.1 hectares in Guanshan Town, at the gateway to Taitung's East Rift Valley.
關山工商創校於民國44年（1955年），最初為「省立台東中學關山分部」。民國58年（1969年）增設商業與家事科，民國63年（1974年）再增設建築與冷凍科，逐步奠定學校技職教育的定位。民國67年（1978年）獨立為省立高職，民國89年（2000年）改隸為國立高職。民國85年至102年（1996–2013年）間，學校曾一度並行綜合高中學程。如今校園面積約5.1公頃，座落於臺東縱谷入口的關山鎮。
