Guangwu Elementary School opened in 1985 in the 寶珠溝 area, one of Sanmin District's seven historic hamlets. The school grew rapidly, peaking at 115 classes in 1993, before settling to around 47 classes today. Since 2001, Guangwu has run Taiwan's only elementary-level recorder-based arts-talent class, a program that has now produced more than 25 cohorts of student musicians.
光武國小創校於民國74年（1985年），校址位於三民區七個歷史聚落之一的「寶珠溝」。學校規模成長迅速，1993年全盛時期曾達115班，如今約維持在47班左右。自2001年起，光武國小開設全台唯一以木笛為主軸的國小藝術才能班，至今已培育超過25屆學生。
