Gongzheng Elementary was established in 1950 as the Taipei County Luodong Township Gongzheng National School, later adopting its current name in 1969. The campus spans about 2.3 hectares and sits literally in the middle of Luodong, bounded on four sides by roads — making it one of the most centrally located schools in the township.
