Gangshan Junior High was founded on October 24, 1956, initially borrowing classrooms from nearby Gangshan Elementary School before establishing its own campus. Today the school spans 41,336 square meters and offers 61 classes, including a sports class and a special-education class in every grade. Over the decades, Gangshan Junior High has historically spun off junior highs serving the neighboring townships of Alian, Hunei, Ziguan, and Yanchao.
岡山國中創立於民國45年(1956年)10月24日,初期借用鄰近岡山國小的教室上課,其後才建立自己的校園。學校現有校地41,336平方公尺,共61個班級,每個年級皆設有體育班與特教班。歷年來,岡山國中曾分設出服務阿蓮、湖內、梓官、燕巢等周邊鄉鎮的國中。
