"Gangshan's founding school."

Gangshan Elementary School traces its origin to 1898, when it began as a branch of Fengshan National School serving the settlement of Akangtiam (阿公店), becoming an independent school the following year as "Akangtiam National School." As the oldest and longest-running school in the greater Gangshan area, it is known locally as "Gangshan's founding school" (岡山首學) — most postwar-era school principals in the surrounding region were once its students.
