The first secondary school of postwar Taiwan.
Fuxing Senior High opened in 1953 as Taiwan Provincial Fuxing Middle School — the first secondary school the ROC government established in Taiwan after retreating there. It ran as a complete middle school, with both junior and senior divisions, until 1970, when the junior division was dropped and it became senior-high only. Since 1997, as part of Taipei's arts-high-school policy, the school has run Arts Talent Classes in fine art, music, dance, and drama, alongside an athletics class. It has also built sister-school ties with institutions in Japan since 1999 and South Korea since 2017, and its alumni association was founded in 2002 at the school's 50th anniversary.

⛰️ The Mountain City
山城
Set at the foot of Datun Mountain, the school earned the old nickname "the mountain city" (山城) for its dramatic hillside setting within the Yangmingshan volcanic massif.
Set against Datun Mountain.
Fuxing Senior High sits at the foot of Datun Mountain (大屯山), the peak that gives the school its old nickname "the mountain city" (山城). Datun Mountain is part of the Yangmingshan volcanic massif whose geothermal activity also produces Beitou's famous hot springs on the other side of the district. See the Taipei county page for more on the region.
