Fufeng Junior High's preparatory office was established on March 1, 1995, hosted at nearby Jianguo Junior High. The school formally opened in July 1998, admitting 11 first-year classes. In 2015 it was approved to add a Chinese-orchestra (國樂) class alongside a math and science gifted class, broadening its academic and arts offerings. It was renamed to Taoyuan Municipal in the December 2014 reorganization.
福豐國中籌備處於民國84年（1995年）3月1日成立，暫設於鄰近的建國國中，並於民國87年（1998年）7月正式設校，首屆招收11個班級。民國104年（2015年）獲准增設國樂班與數理資優班，拓展學校的藝術與學術課程。2014年12月隨桃園縣升格直轄市，正式更名為桃園市立福豐國民中學。
